Donots
Alternative Rock, PunkMe, Myself and I
Because it feels good: punk meets a melancholy mindset Honest, likeable and sporting good moods, the Donots are burning with power and self-assurance in the seventeenth year of their existence. On “The Long Way Home”, the alternative band, founded in 1993, relies on both its own talents as well as the willingness to keep developing. There is experimentation, research and the pushing of boundaries and extremes taking place here. Punk with dirt under its fingernails meets a melancholy mindset. “The Long Way Home” is a record on which the driving power of the band, the brothers Ingo and Guido Knollmann, finally find themselves musically. With its eleven songs, this album shows a band that has arrived, that is at peace with itself. This is also displayed in the matter-of-fact use of “foreign” instruments such as strings, accordion, tuba, mandolin, contrabass, piano and Guido’s glasses. “The Long Way Home” is like deciding to take a detour on the way home from a party when drunk and with good music in your ears because it just feels good at the time.
